is an innovative, woman owned and operated company, producing sensory testing monofilaments. We are the first manufacturer of a paper-handled monofilament that guarantees to meet the 10-gram force range established by the Gillis W. Long Hansen’s Disease Center. Monofilaments are a reliable, cost effective method of testing for the presence or absence of protective sensation, thereby identifying patients at risk of developing diabetic foot ulcers. Monofilaments are “user friendly”, enabling patients to actively participate in their care. Sensory testing used in conjunction with ongoing physician care is a simple way to help decrease the incidence of foot ulcerations and amputations.

The Mission of Medical Monofilament Manufacturing is to produce the best possible, most affordable, sensory testing monofilament. Our objective is to “Partner in Prevention” by consistently providing an excellent product and service to our customers so they in turn may better educate and empower individuals with diabetes and contribute to lower extremity amputation prevention (LEAP).
MYTH - “Permanent Handle” 10 gram monofilaments are permanent
FACT: The only thing permanent on a “Permanent Handle” 10 gram monofilament would be the plastic handle. The handle is simply a holder for a strand of monofilament material. All monofilaments deteriorate over time and with increased usage lose their ability to produce a 10 gram force. Regularly replacing monofilaments is advisable.
Monofilaments are adversely affected by time, extreme temperature, and high humidity and therefore should always be stored appropriately at room temperature and in a dry environment. They are designed to be used and perform best within 12 months after fabrication. Medical Monofilament Manufacturing guarantees that the monofilaments they manufacture will meet tolerances allowed by the Bureau of Primary Health Care/Lower Extremity Amputation Prevention Program (LEAP). Medical Monofilament Manufacturing guarantees the monofilament will perform within the required 10 gram force range before the 12 month expiration date indicated on the packaging of the product.
